INTRODUCTION I'm looking for several enthusiastic sketch artists 3D designers/riggers to create a complete rota of characters (humans and animals) for an epic/urban fantasy animated series - from concept sketches to modelling to rigged and ready for animation. REFERENCE DOCUMENT A detailed Reference Document, which includes images, description and backstories for the characters in question, has been prepared and can be provided upon signing an NDA. JOB CORE REQUIREMENTS - Sketch artists required for concept artwork (colour) and traditional front & side pose sketches (B&W). - Blender is the preferred 3D application (other applications that can export to FBX may be considered). - 3D work will require all the steps: from modelling based on front and side pose sketches, to texturing, UV mapping, to rigging the models ready for render, and ready for an animator to start animating. - All polygons should be quads. - Enough polygons should be used to make the character look natural, to ensure no odd deformations or twisting when animating, to ensure that facial blend shapes showing all sorts of emotions can easily be added later, etc. - Finger-level animation is required, but not toes (foot-level rigging will suffice). - All aspects of the character are to be mesh-based, i.e. no hair, cloth or fur simulations. QUALITY The target quality of modelling, animation, redering, and post-production that the client has specified is along the lines of the Star Wars Rebels TV show. (Note: this show is not to be taken as a stylistic guide - that will be provided along with the Reference Document). WORKING PROCESS Regular updates will be required throughout the development process, with ongoing feedback. I prefer to work in an iterative manner. This way we can ensure that not too much work is done that doesn't meet the requirement (nip problems in the bud, catch inconsistencies early, cut out what's not working from the start, etc). DELIVERABLES The deliverables include: - for sketch artists: colour concept artwork and B&W sketches. - for 3D artists: blender files (or FBX files if non-Blender) with all models produced, including all meshes, rigged models, textured models, and all interim stages of the same sent to and fro. Please also clearly mention: - Whether you prefer payment HOURLY or PER CHARACTER - If hourly, then your RATE/HOUR, and approx. how many HOURS PER CHARACTER you estimate you'll need (ballpark figure okay - I understand that there could be changes that make the job shorter / longer) - if per character, then please mention RATE/CHARACTER - in either case, how many DAYS it would take per character (determined by approx. how much time a day you think you can dedicate to this project). 3. Please also provide examples of your PREVIOUS WORK - e.g. attached images, links to your portfolio, whether it was work you did for a client or for an art course, etc. are all acceptable, but make sure you send something through. IP OWNERSHIP I hold IP rights to the characters and concepts detailed in the reference document. IP ownership of all work produced under UpWork contracts signed as a result of this listing-including but not limited to all artwork, sketches, models, interim or completed, rigs and textures implemented-will lie with me.
