LMS Test.Lab Virtual Car Sound is a solution for sound design and sound quality target setting. You can also use it for advanced vibro-acoustic troubleshooting in the vehicle refinement stage. You can apply Virtual Car Sound to vehicles but can also use it to analyze rotating machinery product and component sounds.
You start from experimental or CAE data to generate a sound quality equivalent model (SQE) that classifies the interior car noise into powertrain, road/tire and wind noise. The SQE model contains the same sound quality features as the original sound. That means it can be used in subjective evaluations (replay, jury testing) and objective evaluations (order analysis, sound quality metrics)." For troubleshooting and target-setting applications, you can refine the model with a transfer path analysis model to study the different structure-borne and airborne path contributions.
This vehicle sound quality solution allows you to interactively drive the virtual vehicle while applying a variety of operating conditions which are a variation of speed, RPM, throttle, gear and braking variations. While driving, you can listen to generated sounds to simulate realistic operation conditions for a subjective evaluation. For objective evaluation and target setting, FFT-based spectral analysis is complemented with real-time sound quality metrics such as loudness, articulation index and roughness. Different sound sources and path contributions are displayed in real-time. Repeatable drive profiles and an external control mode provide flexibility.
You can modify all model components in real-time for what-if scenarios. Click-free switching between modified models provides straightforward A/B comparison under any operating condition.
