Best cars to turbocharged

If the Group B era could distilled into a single sound, it'd be the Audi Quattro S1's barking five-cylinder echoing off trees, wastegates chirping away. You could hear this car from miles away and know exactly what it is.

McLaren P1

All of McLaren's 3.8 liter V8 cars sound great, but the P1 with its oversized turbochargers is truly special. With the interior's lack of sound-deadening material and the V8's air intake right over your head, the P1 is a symphony of induction and wastegate.

Alfa Romeo 4C

In addition to looking beautiful, an Alfa Romeo has to sound good. The 4C is especially beautiful and its noise matches its appearance. If you order your 4C with the Sports Exhaust, Alfa sends you the car without a muffler. Wonderful.

Sauber C9

The legendary Sauber-Mercedes C9 sounds like what would happen if you strapped two turbochargers onto a NASCAR stocker's V8. Its loosely street-car-based motor made around 650 horsepower and easily carried the C9 up to 250 mph on the Mulsanne straight.

Ford GT LM GTE

We don't really know what the twin-turbo V6 in the Ford GT street car sounds like yet, but we do know the racing version of the car sounds excellent. Since the street car will use a similar, racing-derived engine, we expect great things. Just listen to the downshifts!

Pagani Huayra BC

The naturally aspirated V12 in the Pagani Zonda is one of the best sounding motors ever fitted to a car, but its turbocharged successor, the Huayra, isn't too shabby either. Especially the Huayra BC, which sounds like a black hole on four wheels.
